Revision Ch 36. Inverse Trigonometrical Functions - 1

Definitions

1. y = sin-1x if

(i)-1≤x≤1,
(ii)-π/2≤y≤π/2 and
(iii) x = sin y

2. y = cos-1x if

(i)-1≤x≤1,
(ii) 0≤y≤π and -π/2≤y≤π/2 and
(iii) x = cos y

3. y = tan-1x if

(i)xЄR
(ii) -π/2≤y≤π/2 and
(iii) x = tan y

4. sec-1x = cos-1(1/x)

5. cosec-1x = sin-1(1/x)
